During the event, a awareness campaign will be conducted to promote community commitment and participation, as well as to build and leverage local capacities. These capacities are critical in the event of a cross-border forest fire to support civil protection forces and to provide detailed knowledge and experience of the local area and situations. Especially in remote areas and in the case of forest fires, active community involvement is an essential factor for the success of crisis management plans.
